InfoGear iPhone
The first iPhone was released in 1998 by InfoGear Technology Corporation. In 1997, prior to the release of iPhone, Infogear entered into a partnership with Cidco of Morgan Hill, California.[1] The iPhone was an innovative internet appliance that featured a sliding keyboard and an LCD touchscreen that accessed an embedded web browser and an email client. It was one of the first wave of internet appliances, preceding the I-Opener, 3Com Audrey and a slew of similar devices from various manufacturers including Alcatel and Nortel. Reviewers praised it for offering a simple and "relatively inexpensive" way to access the Internet, but many criticized its size, lack of features, and US $5 per month in addition to the Internet access charge and the purchase price (US $299).[2][3] Infogear was acquired by Cisco Systems in 2000,[4] A new model was introduced in 2001, but the product was soon discontinued.[citat
Google Now comes to iPhone, challenging Apple's Siri
SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Google Inc is bringing its Google Now technology to the iPhone, where it will compete head-on with Apple Inc's Siri to serve as the primary service that smartphone users rely on to get everything from weather updates to traffic forecasts.
Google Now, which made its debut last year on mobile devices powered by Google's Android operating system, will be available as a feature in the new version of the Google Search app for iPhones and iPads starting on Monday.
Personal assistant technology such as Apple's Siri, Google Now and products created by various start-up companies aspire to play what could become a critical role on smartphones by helping users with daily chores such as looking up information on the Web, handling calendar appointments and managing travel plans.
Some analysts believe Apple's Siri, which comes pre-loaded on iPhones and iPads, represents a growing threat to Google, the world's No. 1 search engine. The information that Siri provides on common topics such as sports scores and nearby restaurants reduces the need to visit Google's search engine, the analysts say.
Johanna Wright, Google's vice president of Search and Assist for Mobile, described Google Now as the next phase in the evolution of search, in which answers are served up without a user needing to type in a query.
The technology taps into Google's various online services, from Web search to personal Gmail email and Google Calendar entries, to deliver relevant information throughout the day in pop-up windows that Google refers to as "cards." By accessing an email with a flight itinerary, for example, Google Now can automatically remind a traveler about an upcoming trip and suggest the best time to leave for the airport based on current traffic conditions.
Unlike the Android version of Google Now, in which users can swipe the phone's homescreen to quickly access the pop-up cards, the version for Apple's iOS will only display these cards when a user has opened the Google Search app.
The smartphone has emerged as a key battleground between Google and Apple as consumers increasingly access the Web with mobile devices instead of personal computers.
In September, Apple replaced the Google Maps app that once came pre-loaded on iPhones with a new maps app that Apple created in-house. The Apple maps service contained embarrassing errors, drawing fierce criticism from consumers and reviewers and forcing Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook to offer a public apology.

Alachua Freenet
The Alachua Freenet is a volunteer effort to create an electronic community for Alachua County. The Freenet is an internet access provider, a computer provider, and service provider and an important source for community information and participation.
The Freenet is an Internet access provider. This means that the Freenet operates a modem pool that accepts incoming calls and connects users to services on the Internet. The modem pool is an "on ramp" for the Internet. As networking in the home becomes more pervasive and options increase --- it is expected that both local telephone companies and local cable television companies will be providing network access services in the near future -- the role of the Freenet as an access provider may diminish. The Freenet also provides computers to those who cannot afford them. Donations (tax deductible!) of used equipment are accepted and the machines are given to community centers and put in places where they will best be used to provide access to people who might not otherwise have the means to participate.
The Freenet is an Internet service provider. The Freenet operates an email system that its users get for free and can be used to send email anywhere in the world. The Freenet email system is very similar to the email system used at UF --- addresses have the form userid@freenet.ufl.edu. The ufl.edu part of the address indicates that the Freenet gets its Internet connection under an agreement with the University of Florida. Freenet users get access to the world wide web and Usenet news groups including a collection of local newsgroups that act as open forums for on-line discussions.
The Freenet is also an important information repository, an electronic "publisher" of community information. Freenet folks get a community calendar, information on local community organizations, arts and entertainment, business information, information from the public schools, Sante Fe Community College, local government and the library system. The information is provided by the organizations involved. Groups and individuals who wish to provide information can find instructions on how to do so on-line at the Freenet.
The Freenet was organized by Judy and Bruce Brashear, who were recently named by the Gainesville Sun as community leaders of the year for their work in establishing the Freenet. David Pokorney of the Northeast Regional Data Center has provided technical guidance for the project from its inception. Many members of the UF community donate time and effort to the Freenet project as information providers, technical consultants and trainers. Community interest has been very strong. An organizing meeting of the Freenet in April of 1994 drew over 800 participants. The Freenet created over 6,000 accounts in its first week of operation in the fall of 1994. The Freenet currently has over 10,000 users.
You can access the Freenet from the World Wide Web at the URL:
http://www.freenet.ufl.edu
You can telnet to the Freenet at freenet.ufl.edu.
You can also access the Freenet from home via modem at 334-0200 at modem speeds up to 14.4K, with 8 data bits, no parity and 1 stop bit. You can get preconfigured modem software for the Freenet from the reference desk at the Alachua County Main Library Office for a $1 handling fee. You can learn more, become a donor or volunteer to help by contacting the Alachua Freenet at 904-FREENET.
The Alachua Freenet is one of many such community networks in the United States (see http://www.neosoft.com/citylink/ for a comprehensive list of U.S. Freenets). Some see this movement as the coming of a new form of participatory democracy in which citizens have improved access to information about their local communities and governments and are thus empowered to participate in local decision making. The Freenet improves both access to information and opportunities to electronically discuss the issues facing our community. The Alachua Freenet is dedicated to the concept of access for everyone. Those with home computers or computers at work can access the Freenet now. Those without their own equipment have access to the Freenet at community facilities such as the libraries, community centers and the schools.
Contact the Freenet regarding training opportunities, and information about how you can help to provide information and provide access to information about our community.

iPhone Pricing and How the Price Will Change Over Time
Apple's iPhone is popular but one of the greatest concerns involving it
is that of its cost. iPhone pricing is based primarily on the size of
the hard drive that the iPhone itself has. However, the future of the
iPhone could result in lower costs for the product, but newer versions
may be worth more.
The price of the iPhone is based solely on the hard drive space. A four gigabyte version of the iPhone will cost $499 on the market. For an iPhone with an eight gigabyte hard drive it will cost $599 for the phone. These prices were the initial set prices that Apple had created for the iPhone when it first came out. The price could end up going higher based on the popularity of the iPhone or it could go down if sales are not doing as well as expected at times in the year.
The iPhone pricing has been something that is a great topic of debate in the technology world. Some have argued that the pricing will hurt the chances of the product being successful because multiple weeks of pay could be involved in the purchase of the product. However, Apple and Cingular/AT&T, the company that was a major developer in the technology used in the iPhone, have stated that the price of the phone is one that is appropriate for the audience that the iPhone is going to be popular among.
Apple also believes that the price of the iPhone is fine because the company believes that the product will be one that people will be happy with. In fact, the ability to combine an iPod, a Blackberry and a Treo together into one iPhone is one feature that many will be especially excited about and therefore will make for a great option that people will be interested in.
Of course, since Apple owns the product Apple has the right to change the suggested retail price of the product. The future of the iPhone will possibly be one that states that with the popularity of the iPhone there may be a chance that certain retailers will cut the price of the product.
The main part of the future of the iPhone price involves what the price will be a year from now. For instance, another Apple product, the iPod, was $399 when it first came out and a year later a typical iPod of the same type would cost about $199. Of course, the fact that newer models came out since then made a major impact here. Perhaps this will happen with the iPhone.
The last part of the price to consider involves the comparisons made between iPhones and smart phones. Apple is trying to market this as a smart phone in the hopes of getting this to be more popular and therefore possibly able to get it more popular so that the price will not be a factor.
Those are all great factors in the iPhone pricing. While the iPhone may cost a lot of money now the future of the iPhone may be cheaper. After all, there are all sorts of factors that go into this and they can change at any time.

The iPhone Battery and Its Technology and Limits
One of the most unique things about the Apple iPhone is that of the
internal battery technology that is used here. While the iPhone has a
great capacity level that features either four or eight gigabytes of
space depending on the model, a two megapixel camera and Wi-Fi Internet
connectivity capability, the iPhone battery is one of the most notable
features here. It has all sorts of great features and highlights but
there are some problems that come with it.
The battery used in the iPhone is that of internal battery technology. It is built right into the iPhone itself and can be recharged. The battery can handle up to eight hours of talking on the phone to another person. It can be used for Internet access for six hours and it can play back video for seven hours. An entire twenty four hour day of music playback can be achieved through a fully charged battery. The standby power of the iPhone can be two hundred and fifty hours on a full battery.
The battery life of the iPhone is great when compared to other major phones on the market. For instance, the Nokia N95 can only handle four hours of talk time on a fully charged battery, and that's half of what the iPhone's battery is capable of. Also, the Samsung Blackjack has a battery that can only handle five and a half hours of talk time and the Blackberry Curve 8300 and Palm Treo 750 can only handle four hours of time each.
As it can be seen here the internal battery technology of the iPhone is greater than that of the technology that other mobile phones have available to them. The fact that this is all internal battery technology, however, is one of the major pitfalls to it. That's because the battery will have to be recharged for a good period of time so that the battery will be able to get the full power that it needs for maximum efficiency.
Recharging items will have to be used for getting the battery to be at its full power. This will result in additional materials that will have to be transported around when the user has to travel for a long period of time.
Since the battery is internal the user cannot just go and put in additional batteries in the event of an emergency. That means if the power goes out in an area the user will not be able to recharge the iPhone because no outside batteries can be used. In fact, the battery can run out of its ability to get recharged, and when this happens the inside battery will have to be replaced. The only way the battery can be changed is through an official iPhone store like an Apple Store.
Overall, the iPhone battery is a cell phone battery that is incredibly powerful. It is greater in strength and length of life than other batteries in the world of mobile phones. However, there will be additional equipment to use to keep it charged and it will end up losing its recharging capability over time.

iPhone Bluetooth Capability
The Apple iPhone is just the latest in the world of technological
advancements. The many features that the iPhone has are among the best
in the world of mobile phones. One of the best features that stand out
here is that of the iPhone Bluetooth capability. Apple is using the
iPhone to take advantage of the great benefits that come from Bluetooth
capable devices.
The way that Bluetooth works is that wireless programs that are Bluetooth ready will be able to work with each other wirelessly. For instance, a cellular phone can communicate with a car's navigation system wirelessly. Also, Bluetooth can be used for hands-free usage of cellular phones in a car while it is in motion. Wireless iPhone technology uses this Bluetooth technology.
The iPhone uses the Bluetooth capability through the headset of the phone. It can also receive files and other pieces of information from a computer. Streaming audio files and photos can be sent to others through the iPhone thanks to the wireless Bluetooth technology here. In short, wireless communication has never been made easier.
Here's an example of how this wireless iPhone technology works. This example involves taking phone calls from within the car. While driving around a phone call could be coming through the iPhone. By touching the Speaker Phone button on the iPhone the output will come through the car speakers and the driver can easily speak just to communicate with ease. If the driver is about to get out of the car the person can tap the Audio Source button and then tap on the iPhone logo so that a call can be received without losing anything.
The headset that will be used on the iPhone will allow for wireless communication with others without having to directly handle the phone. Also, the sound quality will be completely clear without any static. In fact, the Bluetooth headset can last for five hours of talking time on a fully charged battery.
The headset for Bluetooth usage is also great in that it is light in weight. It also fits easily into a typical ear. This is all with the intention of being comfortable when using the headset and having it so that it will be easy to handle without having it slip out during a call.
That's a look at the iPhone Bluetooth capability. While this form of wireless iPhone technology has been around on other platforms for a while the iPhone definitely takes this into a whole new level. Not only does the iPhone allow for great wireless communication with other people and devices but it also allows for great sound quality. It makes for one of the best products that is available on the market now.

Great iPhone Features and Features People Want
The Apple iPhone is one of the most popular gadgets to come out in
years. There are all sorts of great iPhone features that make this a
popular product but there are also some limits.
The Internet connection that is available through the iPhone is one of the best features that the Apple iPhone has. The phone features a 2.75 G quad-band GSM Internet capability. This is one of the best formats on the market for cell phones. Wi-Fi connections can be used for the iPhone too so long as it has the right connection plan. Text messaging services are available through the phone along with the ability to write, send and read emails.
The way that the interaction features work with the email and messaging features is great. A touch screen is used with the iPhone. A virtual keyboard is included here.
The storage that the iPhone has is great. Depending on the model the iPhone can handle up to four or eight gigabytes of memory. It is one of the best sizes in that of storage capacity in the world of cell phones.
Many different audio files can be used on the iPhone. Video and audio formats are well supported through this product. It even allows for the taking of pictures. A two megapixel camera is used here.
Since its release the iPhone has been one of the most sought after gadgets on the market. But even with its popularity there are some features that people wish the product could have. However, some of these features may be available in the future. For instance, the ability to record videos through the phone is popular. While videos from other sites can be played on the iPhone they cannot be recorded through the iPhone. The fact that the storage capacity is less than ten gigabytes hurts here but this could be corrected in the future.
Many websites use Flash in their designs. However, the .flv files that are used on these sites cannot be read on an iPhone. One of the biggest requests is to get support for Flash on the product.
A need for a removable battery is also present. The battery on the iPhone can be used for recharging but the battery is not removable. When the internal battery does run out this can be a problem.
The last of the requests people have for the future of the Apple iPhone is to be able to use ringtones to a better effect. While hundreds of .mp3 files can be used to be stored onto an iPhone they cannot be programmed as ringtones. Because ringtones are so popular on cell phones these days people want to see this as a feature in the future so that they will be able to add to the customization of their phones.
Overall, there are all sorts of great iPhone features that make for a great phone. However, there are some that are not available. Perhaps in the future these suggestions will be used to make the iPhone better.

iPhone Limits Not All Products Are Perfect
While Apple's iPhone has become one of the most popular products in
recent years there are some downfalls to the product. While the iPhone
does have a 2.75G quad-band GSM capability with text messaging and email
services and Wi-Fi services there are some iPhone limits. Not only do
they keep people from using certain features but they also prevent
iPhone customization in some cases. These problems should be fixed in
the future though.
One of the biggest limits that the iPhone has is that the product does not allow for any custom ringtones to be used. While an iPhone will have a four or eight gigabyte hard drive where several hundred .mp3 files can be fit onto the hard drive none of these files can be used for ringtone use. Only the ones that are available on the phone can use them. Therefore, this part of iPhone customization is greatly limited.
The camera on the iPhone is a strong one, as it has two megapixels of picture quality. This makes for one of the best camera phones on the market. While pictures can be taken for sending to people or for iPhone customization there is a significant limit to the camera it cannot record video files. Of course, the four or eight gigabyte hard drive is a major factor in this because recording one's one video files can take up a great amount of space on the phone.
Flash is used on many popular websites, including hot video sites like Google Video and Youtube. There is limited Flash support on the iPhone though. It makes it tough to go to certain sites on the Internet as a result. With more websites than ever before getting into the world of Flash programming this will be a great problem unless Apple is able to fix it in the future.
The last of the limits of the iPhone is that of the difficultly in writing things at times. The iPhone has a touch screen feature and it can be tough to write things on the iPhone with speed. For instance, while there is a virtual keyboard on the iPhone the user will have to go to another menu every time to enter commas, periods and other marks of punctuation. While the touch screen is great and is incredibly responsive to what one enters on it this is a problem that makes it harder to write things.
With the great sales that the iPhone has gotten in recent months the iPhone limits have been discovered too. However, as time goes on newer iPhone models will be available in the future, and many of these models should be able to correct the problems that are listed here.

However, there will be additional equipment to use to keep it charged and it will end up losing its recharging capability over time.

iPhone Pricing and How the Price Will Change Over Time
Apple's iPhone is popular but one of the greatest concerns involving it
is that of its cost. iPhone pricing is based primarily on the size of
the hard drive that the iPhone itself has.
After all, there are all sorts of factors that go into this and they can change at any time.

iPhone Limits Not All Products Are Perfect

With the great sales that the iPhone has gotten in recent months the iPhone limits have been discovered too. However, as time goes on newer iPhone models will be available in the future, and many of these models should be able to correct the problems that are listed here.

Fake iPhones iPhone Copycats
Apple's iPhone is the newest product in the modern chapter of cell phone
history. Of course, there are some fake iPhones that have come around
in recent times because people like to use Photoshop or other programs
to try and make their cell phones look more like iPhones. Of course, one
of the most notable things here is that the fake iPhones are really
ones that are nothing more than just iPhone knockoffs. They may act like
the iPhone but they don't have all of the great features and services
that the real iPhone has.
The first of the products that can be considered to be iPhone knockoffs is that of the i-Mobile. This is a fake copy of the iPhone that has a touchscreen that is 1.8 inches in size. It features a two megapixel camera just like the iPhone. However, this has a different appearance in that it resembles the iPod more than anything else. Overall, the i-Mobile is nothing more than just a GSM 900/1800 phone that feature handwriting recognition technology in it.
The Deeda Pi Phone is one of the other iPhone knockoffs of interest. The screen here is large in that it is 3.6 inches in size and a screen resolution of 800x480. It also features Bluetooth capability and, like the iPhone, it features Wi-Fi technology. Vibration alert is included here along with a touch screen that is proximity based. While the appearance of this knockoff is something that is unique and close to the iPhone itself the functions that this knockoff have is nothing when compared to what the actual iPhone has to offer.
One of the other fake iPhones on the market is the Fujian Huamin and Export Company's fake version of the iPhone. The features are somewhat similar to that of the actual iPhone. It even features a logo that looks very similar to the famous Apple logo. However, it does not have all of the functions that the real iPhone has to offer.
While all three of these iPhone knockoffs are well functions they are all especially nothing when compared to the actual iPhone. The real iPhone has more features and functions and it also includes more support than these other items that are only knockoffs of the actual thing.
While fake iPhones are common and feature some of the best features that would be found on the typical iPhone there are still some difficulties that will be featured in these iPhone knockoffs. Besides, no matter how many of these fake products come out it should be known that there is one thing that will be seen as better than that of these knockoffs, and that is the real iPhone from Apple.

Perhaps in the future these suggestions will be used to make the iPhone better.

iPhone Competition
With every new product that comes out to revolutionize the world there
will be many different competitors that are trying to take over the
sales. With Apple's recent release of the iPhone there are many
different competitors that have come around. The iPhone competition has
worked to incorporate many of the features that the iPhone has into
their products.
One of the first things that Apple did in an attempt to get into the mobile phone industry was to incorporate the iTunes software into phones. However, limited size of previous phones have kept this from happening. While this can be used on the iPhone there are competitors that are using this as part of their iPhone alternatives. Motorola's Razr series have this program available on phones through the Verizon and Sprint networks.
Certain parts of the iPhone have become common in many of the iPhone alternatives. While these products do not have all of the features that are common in the iPhone they do have some of the key parts. Touch screens are becoming useful, and some companies are working to try and get their phones to be as touch sensitive as that of the iPhone.
A built in hard drive has been used by many competitors and with the high capacity of the iPhone's hard drive more competitors are trying to get their hard drives to work better. iPhones come with four and eight gigabyte hard drives depending on the model that is bought. More companies are trying to use these larger drives in their phones.
Easy Internet access is also something to consider. While the iPhone has Wi-Fi Internet access other phones are looking to get this same service on their phones.
One of the main concerns about the iPhone is whether or not a user will be able to see the iPhone screen clearly enough. Competitors are looking to make alternatives with larger screens as a result.
The last thing that iPhone alternatives are looking to do in order to compete with the product is to improve their Internet connections. While many of these phones are using Wi-Fi connections not all of them will work perfectly. Apple's new product uses the AT&T system, and this is considered to be one of the best for mobile Internet use. Other companies are looking to get improvements on their mobile Internet qualities and are looking to the iPhone system for ideas.
It is no surprise that with the success of the Apple iPhone that there is already iPhone competition. Most companies are looking to make products that are going to be similar to that of the iPhone but others are looking to improve on it. Either way, in the future the competition in the world of mobile phones will continue to go on and Apple will still be looking for a good fight.
